It won't ruin the looks, the front audio cable is not really a pain to work with and hide (unlike the thick usb 3 cables) and it is available from lian li.     While I use the front USB ports of my NCase M1 (or any other case that I have) once in a while, I'd still prefer option 2. I like the minimalistic looks and there won't be any issues with front panel upgrades.

    actually, the ASUS Z97I-Plus has some of the best fan control I ever had on a motherboard.. You have to run the "Qfan tuning" utility in BIOS, it will check where the installed fan start running.. once you've done that, you can control the whole range.
