and with all 10 of the drives... ~1GB/s read write

Yeah, lower price, lower power consumption, and less heat....
and what he said about speed... i had 5x hitachis in a raid 6 speeds posted below... i rerun some speed tests when i get done moving some data... but here is a internal laptop drive for comparison..
===laptop drive===...
I just ran the full 4 tests (badblocks) on 5 x 3TB toshiba drives, all tests completed with 0 errors, and took right about 200 hours to run... these were all hoooked up via usb (as they were external drives) this would be faster on an internal bus - but i didnt want to void the warranty by...
it should work... i havent mixed speeds and cache sizes though...
one thing to be aware of, some manufactures have 2tb drives, but sizes can be a but differnt.. so you might not want to use the absolute max available space.. instead of 2T use like 1.9 or so.. I had a friend run into a problem...
so far so good... just got done adding 5 of these to my raid6 with 5 of the old hitachis... took 2-3 days to expand the array, seconds to grow the fs... and now im copying some data...
df /dev/sdc
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sdc 23435323392...
must be some setting in my profile im missing somwhere... ---yup there they are it was in the usercp
if anyone figures out the 'inner tabs', i'd like to know..
I should be adding them to the array, expanding, and growing the fs, starting tmo.. doot

1) Start with this corner the two white lines indicate where the first two tabe are
2) you will apply presure here on the 'vents' - push in
3) once you can fit a tool inside work your way down the drive on the side with the connectors to release all...
Yea i have two more drives that should be finishing tmo with the badblocks test
Ill take some pics then
I can get it open without breaking most all of the tabs on the outer layer, but the inside has some that i see no way of getting too... i have no idea how the factory would even do it...
After about 200 hours
I have three drives that have completed with 0 errors (im sure this would have been faster on an internal bus but i wanted to test these before i ripped the enclosures open)
sudo badblocks -svw -c 4096 -b 4096 /dev/sdb >tosh3tbbb2
Checking for bad blocks in read-write...
1010: I know the T-S/N is what counts... My main point there was that you can not see the T-S/N until you open the drive, you can only get the S/N... So there is not a way to check if the enclosure is in warranty.
Philmatic: Im hoping thats all good... If you know specifcially how to...
Didnt delete anything from slickdeals, i dont have a slickdeals account but do check there far to often.
Right now I am doing a badblocks check on the drives, they are at ~92% with 76 hours and counting (on the third test atleast) I tried to run smrtctl -t long but it wouldnt run I think this...
They are going in my Raid, if they sold them stand alone I would be more than happy to buy them that way...
I busted one getting it open, to check what was actually inside.. But there are no security seals or anything, and now i know where all the different tabs are, so I am going to try...
