Hey,
I noticed you have a TJ-09 with a CoolIT C240. I have a TJ09 and I'm considering the C240. How did you end up mounting it in the case? Did you need to do anything special?
I have a DS3R, and it goes by SPD multipliers in the BIOS. Currently, it's set to '2' (which provides 1:1).
My next two options are 2.5 (~945mhz) and 3 (~1134mhz). I doubt I could make it to 1100mhz, but I'm sure I'd be able to make it to 945mhz with this memory. Comments?
What are the...
I've got some Crucial Ballistix PC6400 and an overclocked Q6600. My FSB is 378, giving me a 3.4ghz CPU, but only 756mhz RAM.
Would I be better off bumping the divider so that the RAM is running asynchronously, but at least 800mhz if not higher (I'm sure I could get 900+ and still have it be...
Shit, I just failed Prime95 after about 4 more hours :(
Turned my voltages up to 2.1v for ram and 1.45v for vcore; I'll let it run overnight and see how it goes.
2.1v should be a safe voltage for Ballistix without any kind of special ram cooling, right?
I know you weren't addressing me, but I've got both of mine at stock. When I had my CPU at 3.6 it was reasonably stable but I had to have the Vcore really high, so I backed off.
I just tried increasing my FSB to 385 and Prime95 just failed as I was writing this message. I guess I'm stuck at...
I'm running Prime95 custom right now (min fft size 4k, max 4096k, use 4gb ram, 4 threads). I've got:
Q6600 is at 1.4375v in the bios, 9x mult (= 3.42ghz)
FSB 380mhz
Memory SPD set to '2' (giving me 760mhz ram, CPU-Z says this is 1:1, is that right?)
Memory timings set to 4-4-4-12, and...
I'd rather not run 8x400 because then I'm only getting a 3.2ghz cpu, and if I push my FSB much higher, I would assume I'd need to start overvolting the FSB/northbridge.
How much of a performance dip am I looking at for running my ram at 1:1 (756mhz) instead of 1:1 (800mhz)? And should I just...
I upgraded to the F7 bios. It hasn't helped much but it hasn't hurt either.
I think for now I'm going to shoot for 3.4ghz, until I get it in a case and get some real airflow. If I can get it stable at 3.4 at least I'll know there is nowhere to go but up.
I'm running Prime95 now with a 378...
Hurf. I read it as 9x400 for some weird reason. Sorry! You're right, 3.2 without increasing your voltages is perfectly reasonable if you get a good chip.
Thermalright Ultima 90 is almost as good as the Ultra 120 Extreme and half the price. It's a good heatsink.
3.6ghz on stock voltage? Sorry, but you should prepare yourself now for this not being a reality. My q6600 seems to overclock pretty well and I can get it to 3.2 with no increase. 3.6...
I set it up to 1.502v and it seems pretty stable under Prime95 for 20 minutes. Idle temp is 32C and full load is 65C. This is a bit hotter than I'd like though. Also, yeah, that voltage is pretty high. 1.502 in the BIOS gives me about 1.44 in Windows and 1.39 or so under full load, ugh.
edit: I...
Hello,
This is my first time overclocking. I'm only really aiming for 3 - 3.2ghz, but if I can get higher, then I might as well. My setup:
Q6600 (g0)
4x 1GB Crucial Ballistix PC6400 (800mhz)
Gigabyte P35-DS3R
Thermalright Ultima 90 + Artic Silver 5 + Scythe S-FLEX 1600rpm fan ('F'...
