Think Linux Rules on Netbooks? Think Again

Just bought the Asus EEE PC 1000he. It's sold with Windows XP Home but I never booted into it. I immediately formated and installed Easy Peasy and CrunchBang. After installing a 2gig memory stick and a SSD, the power of linux is manifest. I don't know why I didn't do this earlier. I <3 my...

Left 4 Dead Gameplay Performance and IQ @ [H]

This game is like digital crack. Its multiplayer is where it really shines and is great to play with friends. I would recommend downloading the demo off Steam if you are still not convinced. Great article.

TRUE with Ultra Kaze 3000 Push/Pull fans?

+1 for a lapped true 120 with 2 ultra kazes. I typically keep them at about 2500 rpm cooling my q9450 @ 3.6. Works very well keeping me at or under 60°C P95 fully loaded w/ small ffts. I'm assuming you know it wont be quiet - the noise doesnt bother me though.

Calling All AV Gurus - the 6monitor 13.2 MP desktop

I asked around on another forum and got directed here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/vista64/178.15. The poster said I could edit the inf to get the GTX280 to work with my Quadro NVS 440. Anyone know anything about this?

    OC'ing Q9450 with Abit IX38 QuadGT

Many people ask whether their voltages are safe and that is a very subjective question. I would say your cited voltages are certainly "safe" as long as your temps are reasonable. Some argue that with higher voltage and temps you run an increased risk of suffering from the effects of...

Those of you with Q9450: How are your overclocks?

update to my previous post: I'm not sure if it was CPU "burn in" or the AS5 curing, but I've gone from a 3.2 (400mhz FSB) wall to 3.6 stable. I did have to set the vcore to 1.4 in bios, cpuz reports 1.37-1.38 in windows. With my true120 I dont see temps above 60°C in real temp with p95...

8GB Management in Vista Ultimate x64

I'm currently trying this out - though like the classic halting problem I don't know if it is fixed or I just haven't been able to recreate the problem since I don't know what causes the massive memory utilization. Thanks for the help! I'm not sure how to separate out what is cached and...

Those of you with Q9450: How are your overclocks?

That has been my experience as well. I've got mine running at 3.4 (FSB 425) on a rampage formula but it takes a significant bump in VCore, PLL, VTT, and NB volts. Most of the time I'll just leave it at 400*8 for the lower temps.

8GB Management in Vista Ultimate x64

So I've put 8GB of RAM in my new rig and am very happy with its snappiness and performance. I disabled pagefile and all is generally well. However, every once in a while my system will start to stutter and I'll open task manager to find 7.95 GB of RAM being used. However, after RE-enabling...

    My new workstation build

Quick update: Found a good deal on a raptor 150 and used another raptor 150 from the old rig for RAID 0. Subjectively I find system responsiveness, boot up time, and app installation/level load times all improved over using the single 640. Read and write times are improved moderately but...
