ok...yeah thats what i was thinking too....so do most people that do a desktop amp setup just use headphones without speakers? or is there another way to get both hooked up at the same time? thnx for the help btw
oh ok that makes more sense....one more question....so i have 5.1 speakers hooked up right now to my soundcard....but my front/main speaker has a headphone input....could i go from that output to the line in on the amp to the headphones? that way i can still have my surround sound speakers...

ok awesome...thnx for the help...while I don't have all the money in the world to spend..I was already looking at upgrading to the Titanium HD anyways, so if those will drive the Shure840's, then I may just upgrade the card now so I can get the most out of the headphones...
ok...what about if i just went ahead and upgraded my sound card to the newer XFI Titanium HD? Says that it has a headphone output supporting up to 115db...and its got pretty good reviews so far that I've seen...would this be a viable option?
