Star Citizen Gives Backers Their First Taste Of A Fuller Game

I see you're more of a fan of the Activision/EA/Ubisoft development schedule. :p The game's Kickstarter was in 2012. 3 years isn't that long.

"Gigabyte GPU Gauntlet" my butt... what would you do with this 980Ti?

Do you know why it was open box? I don't either, but I am willing to bet that the previous owner also found out it was a poor overclocker. I'm also willing to bet that for every open box card that was returned due to incompatibility or second thoughts, there's one that was returned because of...

MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti SEA HAWK Video Card Review @ [H]

Does the little fan on the card itself have a purpose?

GIGABYTE GTX 980 Ti G1 GAMING Video Card Review @ [H]

It's for the G1. No matter how much you voltage you add (it's true for me anyway), it's always capped at 1.23. You can easily reach higher values by flashing the BIOS, however.

GIGABYTE GTX 980 Ti G1 GAMING Video Card Review @ [H]

How did you increase the voltage to 1.243v when the card is supposed to be voltage capped at 1.23v?

Help me choose between these GTX 980 Ti models

So far, I've ruled out all the really expensive models such as the water-cooled ones, MSI's Lightning, or Asus' Matrix Platinum. That leaves me with a few cards that are priced very close to each other, making it difficulty to decide which is the best. My definition of best would be a good...

    Installing modules from different kits

This is the reply I got on the Corsair forum: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?p=781775#post781775 Note that I made a typo in my post. I meant to write "upgrade to 16GB of RAM". Obviously upgrading from 8GB to 8GB makes no sense.

    Installing modules from different kits

Well, it turns out one kit is version 7.25 (bought last month), and the other version is 7.21 (bought in 2013), so they are not really the same, despite having identical model numbers. I did not even think to check before I bought the new RAM, unfortunately. I'm just going to RMA the new...

    Installing modules from different kits

I have two sets of 2x4GB modules (for a total of four modules and 16GB of RAM), both of them are of the model number CMX8GX3M2A1333C9. I've been running into some BSODs lately, and decided to run memtest86 on each of the four modules. Only one produced errors, and when I took it out, the BSODs...

WD Black vs Blue for gaming PC

I'm currently planning a gaming PC, using an SSD for my OS and a 1TB WD Black WD1003FZEX for storage. However, I only just found out that the cheaper WD Blue WD10EZEX is actually faster! What in the world? I have to admit, I picked it purely on the reputation of the old Caviar Black, so no, I...

First brand new PC since 2009. Would like this one to last at least another 6 years

Yes, I'm planning to overclock, although even if I weren't, the locked 4690 is only about £4 cheaper. Someone suggested the Xeon E3-1231 for a non-overclocking build, which struck me as a bit strange. Just out of curiosity, is that going to be any better than a 4690?

First brand new PC since 2009. Would like this one to last at least another 6 years

There's a £90 ($130) difference between the two CPUs. How much of a benefit will that £90 give me in terms of gaming? I'm not terribly impressed by the difference between the two in benchmarks to be honest. That said, I couldn't find a single review that used CPU-demanding strategy games like...

First brand new PC since 2009. Would like this one to last at least another 6 years

Well, when I said "stress it in 1440p", I was indeed thinking of sub-60 framerates. But I get what you say about the GTX 980. I'm paying £175 extra for a 10 FPS gain, so it's probably worth it to wait for the R9 300 series and see how the prices change.

Questions about CRT monitor - Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 900u

Thank you, everyone, for your answers! I've been a forum reader for a while now, and my first thread here did not disappoint. I'm planning on playing a lot of old games from the 90s and work my way up to around 2003, and I want the games to look as authentic as possible, with all the...
