Does STALKER offload physics to the GPU?
Also, I don't understand how a card that's faster in GPU specific benchmarks would be slower in real world game play assuming all other things are equal, and the GPU is not handling physics or AI. Is there something I can read that would explain that?
I was under the impression that physics and AI are exclusively handled by the CPU, and therefore irrelevant to a video card's performance. That is not the case?

I play WoW at 1680x1050 with a 9800 Pro. 20fps outside, anywhere from 40 to 60 in an instance. Details on max, no AA, 2xAF. Game is not demanding graphically.
I am looking to purchase a new GPU, and I want it to be DX10 compliant. To the best of my knowledge, the only existing cards that fit that criteria are the Nvidia 8800s, which both cost upwards of $400. Is a mainstream (ie- $200) DX10 card in the pipeline?
