Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
It is the onboard expander in the ix I want to know about - if they can bring out a new firmware for this card too it would be a great way to put together a huge, expandable JBOD system across several Norcos - 1300ix in the main box controlling the local drives, then daisy-chaining extra Norcos...
That mobo probably just keeps the PCIe slots in the 'reset' state when no CPU and/or RAM is present - in this state the LEDs will light but the expander won't function.
SAS has (technically) 4 times the bandwidth of SATA, as it is full duplex and each drive has 2 ports. Problem is you can't use both ports for data transfer at the same time. One can be used for commands and the other data transfer simultaneously though. But realistically under the kind of...
SATA rates are always reported in half duplex. For the simple reason that SATA is half duplex. SAS on the other hand is full duplex.
If you are using SATA drives then the full-duplex SAS capability is not really of use unless you have separate arrays on a single SAS card. An array of SATA...
What are you doing that needs >2GB/sec? Is it really going to be an issue?
Note that even in RAID0 or RAID5/6 you are unlikely to ever see speeds greater than that from a single array anyway, and you won't bottleneck the drives for anything but pure sequential performance.
Anybody any experience with the Areca 1300 series cards and expanders? A setup like that would be a nice cheap way of building a large WHS box for example...
Almost seems a shame to cover up that lovely interior with the side panel. You miss all the details with the dual loops etc.
...until you see that gorgeous artwork that the panel contains that is. That dragon is something else.
Amazing.
How about something like this composite to VGA converter.
The quality probably won't be amazing, and depending on your monitor you may get a stretched screen or black borders, but it should get you a lag-free picture without any hassle. Looks like it has VGA passthrough if you still use a...
So, still taking digs without ever actually answering any of the questions I asked, or any justification for your random attacks. How very mature of you. It was, after all, you who started the unpleasantness, and despite me asking you to justify your stance you have still failed to come up...
My apologies.
All I wanted was a little confirmation that your intention was such. Had it been necessary due to space requirements to have the cable connector sticking out I would have sent you a right-angled mini-usb connector to avoid having the wire on display & otherwise spoiling the...
I'm afraid you have still to convince me on both these points.
If this is so clear, can you explain (and answer my question) as to why the cable in the pic that I quoted, and in several other pics in the same original post, was shown running on the outside of the case, and not 'clearly'...
I'm sorry, who the hell are you?
Do you see a power cable, or a monitor cable in the pics above? A mouse or keyboard? So you assume the system will be running without those too? The guy cuts a channel, then feeds the cable out through that channel & takes pictures. Why would he go to the...
