    well i tried diskpart and did a clean command, but it didn't do anything as far as i can see. but now the dead drive is not even seen as disc 0 in either diskpart or disk mangament, it's like the driver disappeared, pretty sure it's dead for sure now. i did get the WD gold installed and copied...

    diskdrill found nothing there at all, it asked me to reboot after installing, think that will change anything ? thanks for the advice so far everyone :)

    i do have backups, 1 desktop external and 2 internal drives that i plug a dock ocationaly, plus i have backblaze if it synced up recently, but not sure how far back they go, i may lose a little music and some doggie pictures LOL maybe i check to make sure the backups do work
