Yeah, most likely the game is booting up at a res you tv doesn't like over vga. I experienced this with Mirror's Edge when I was using vga on my ln32a650--same thing as you, except "mode not supported". I actually use both vga and dvi>hdmi--I keep (switch) it to vga so the tv has a sleep mode... -

Samsung T260, worth $450?
Yup! I knew within 30 seconds my T260 was going back. I tried the T240 and again, although not as bad, the bottom half was much brighter than the top. The T260 had terrible bleed on all four sides. I now have a G2400WD and again, searching for a new panel--TNs suck. This is not as bad as... -

42" LCD/Plasma as desktop monitor
How far are you sitting away from it? After trying a couple of TN panels I tried the ln32a650. While it is nice, it is just too big for this desk space (sitting a little more than 3' away). I'm really gonna regret taking it back, but also after purchasing a ln42a650 this just seems overkill... -
