We found the Missing Performance: Zen 5 Tested with SMT Disabled

My ideal solution would be an 8 core Zen_X3D with a 16 core Zen_C core. You have the 8 cores with all of the cache for lat next bound computing. You have the 16 cores for the throughput bound computing.

Zen 5 delayed to August 15th due to sample failures

Honestly I would have liked to see staggered releases for these products be the norm for all companies.

    AI Isn’t Making Much Money

So far we have spent roughly 400k in licensing and labor trying to AI automate about 15% of my job. Now I am expensive… but the work (coding up clinical trial inclusions and excision criteria from free text clinical words to claims and clinical codified terminology) is not root boring work...

AMD Expected to Announce Ryzen 5000XT CPUs at Computex

If you have a 16 core 3950X the 16 core 5900XT is a compelling upgrade assuming your really need that amount of parallelism.

Chinese AI Tops Hugging Face's Revamped Chatbot Leaderboard

It’s been exciting to see the advancements in the health terminology leaderboards. Twice the public models have leapfrogged our internal models… of which I have no endless fun pointing out to our data scientists… 😈

Micron Confirms US Fab Expansion Plan: Idaho and New York Fabs by 2026-2029

Micron pretty much got shafted from the Chips act money. Not a fan of government giving away money to companies, but if you are going to do it at least send some love to the only non Asian based memory firm.

32 core Ryzen for Zen 6?

Give me a 8 core X3D chiplet and a 16 core “C” chiplet. This gives me the best performance for latency bound tasks (X3D) and for throughput bound (16 “C” cores).

U.S. issues warning to NVIDIA, urging to stop redesigning chips for China

In the end all we are doing is encouraging domestic production in China which will actually hurt more for the west in the long run.

Thinking about getting a 7900xt or xtx, but worried about my psu and coil whine problems people are reporting

7900xtx owner here. Power Color branded reference card. 850 watt seasonic ps. Only experience coil wine on Unity game menus where the devs forget to cap the frame rate. Had this same issues with my 1080Ti Asus for what it’s worth.

Larian CEO Rails Against Game Subscription Models

And even if you “bought” your digital copy of your favorite movie or game, you still don’t own it in perpetuity. They can, will and have removed titles “bought” on platforms. This is a space that needs some additional consumer protection.

    Radeon RX 7800 XT Reviews

The only time I’ve encountered coil whine outside of a someone’s house having bad wiring or a shoddy power supply is when a game menu runs at an uncapped frame rate. I’ve never experienced it when actually gaming. Guess I am lucky.
