heatpipes are sealed under vacum and usually use water the high quality heatpipes also have either a braided wick or sinter wick to aid in fluid return once is has been cooled sufficiently.
I think getting d-tek heatercore would be your best bet for saving money recently I think prices have dropped i picked up mine for 35 canadian plain or 40 with some crappy spray painted colour also has the benefit of being better than the single 120mm black ice rads forgot to mention the...
I am not sure if someone has mentioned this I checked the posts but not down to the letter. Do what the dudes above say using all the standoffs but also make sure you are using the I/O shield that came with the board or a compatible one and make sure all the mounting holes are lining up as close...
I would recommend a fan that is 38mm wide or the 32mm wide papst fans as they are quiet but give better performance than their 25mm counterparts as the static pressure they can create is higher.
I use a panaflo medium speed 120mm fan it has decent static pressure and is fairly quiet they work well at lower voltages look for the ones made in japan.
The zalman waterblock is ok but not a high performance piece of gear, I would not recommend it there are better things to be had for the same amount of cash.
that cooler cools only marginally better than an xp-90 or xp-120 and costs more plus the wieight overall i think thermalright is the best choice as i dislike thermaltake and all their marketing hype/bs/inflated specs YEAH I AM A THERMALRIGHT HATER :D the xp series are also better than the...
Thought I would give some input as I have had quite the battle with noise and I am a silent pc freak. First of all no matter what fan specs say or what someone tells you i dont believe there are any fans that are 21dba other than the sub 20cfm fans (silenx) so get a fan controller turn them fans...
The short Zalman is ok its fairly quiet offers ok cooling and probably is easier to obtain especially for those looking locally. Otherwise thermalright all the way as it is much better for ocing/noise the zalman doesnt handle overclocking too gracefully on any of the newers setups such as athlon 64.
does seem a tad high i used a silent boost previouisly and got temps in the low to mid 40's at idle which is normal load around 55-60 ambient temperature around 20-21 all in celsius. Do as the post above mine says for TIM application unless you are using an xp-90 or xp-120 then follow...
