    Any word if the SX500 will be able to cool itself down so the fan will turn off? Not that the SX600 is super loud, but it's a little disappointing that the semi-passive feature will only work right after booting up.

    A lot of people don't care about perf/watt and noise. AMD has shown they can compete in high end performance (with poor reference coolers) and especially in perf/$ so there will always be a market for Radeons. However if Nvidia can scale performance with Maxwell, then this could be an Intel-AMD...

    I'm running a 670 reference right now and I've been looking at an open air cooler for a while. I was curious on how the temps are. I don't want to put any fans below the video, but if you're getting only 2-3 degrees difference, then maybe that's doable. Big thanks, I think I'll wait and see...

    Great info, looks like the best bet for a semi-passive cooling system for a 970 or 980 will be with MSI's Twin Frozr V (God these names are cheesy)

    I was looking at the 970 Strix too, but it might be a tad bit too wide for the case... The new MSI 970 Gaming uses a new Twin Frozr V cooler that has its fans turn off at temps below 50C. The Strix has that threshold at below 65C which seems like a much better feature.. but the MSI card seems...

    How does the Twin Frozr compare to the Direct CU? The only thing swaying me towards ASUS is the semi-passive Strix line.
