nope, the 8 pin motherboard connector is different. it has 4 12v lines, and 4 grounds--and a different arrangement of pin shapes.
in other news, i stopped my powersupply from squealing like nails on a chalkboard when rendering 3d content by enabling Vclear(vsync?). bizarre.

damn, i'w not sure i can trust [H] anymore... did NOBODY know about wine not working with ATI drivers from 8.6 to 8.8?! so if i got the 4870, i wouldnt even be able to play 95% of the things i want? whoa.
i'm not sure i can wait till that is fixed.
I've read thru all the reviews, but i just can't seem to pull the trigger on a 4870x2. the low end FPS of the card just seems to fail at certain points compared to the 280. driver issues? how likely are these to be fixed before its time to buy a new card? (3 years for me)

so nVidia looks like its holding top place, but ATI is accelerating towards linux faster. so the thing i wonder about is: if i get a 4870 or 4870x2, is firmware enough to be compatible with openGL3, openCL, and such, or are those hardware things? if no cards have those things...

I have a BIP 240, and if its the same shroud as the stealth, I believe it has M6x32 screws. easiest thing to do is run over to truevalue/ace/home despot with the fan and radiator in your hand and try it out. the screws are about 6 cents apiece, you aint gunna break the bank...

at some point its going to be worth it to just get another pump and make 2 loops. thats a lot of resistance for one pump to move around, you could put two pumps in series, but at some point it makes sense to make two loops-- put the CPU at the front of one loop, and the GPU then ram at the front...
buy some Y adapters and hook those rads up in parallel for less pressure drop. or split the 2 loops with a joined res before the pumps. also, for the non-CPU stuff, figure out which things you want to keep coolest(probably GPUs?) and put them earlier in the loop. also, if you werent going to do...
