    P5B-E Q-Fan control 3-pin 4-pin plight!

I looked around everywhere I could in the bios but I couldn't find anything like that. What bios does your board have? The P5B has an AMI bios.

    P5B-E Q-Fan control 3-pin 4-pin plight!

Hey guys, I have a quick question regarding Q-fan controls on an ASUS P5B-E. Whenever I enable performance mode on the CPU fan profile (so the fan speed is scalable with temp) my CPU fan still spins at full speed. I have a 3 pin fan connector on my Zalman 9700, and the fan header on the...

    FX-60 and Overclocking

What would acceptable temps be on these overclocks? I have mine at 2.8ghz and I idle around 43 with 53 under load... Where would your temp cut offs be? 60c?

How much 12v deviation should I expect?

I borrowed a multi meter and tested out the 12v, I get a constant 12.26v idle and about 12.21v under load... I'm still going to get a new pws. I guess I'll have to wait and see if my system freezes up again to see why it happened. Speedfan did a good job of freaking me out, I always thought...

How much 12v deviation should I expect?

Hmm, sucks, ok I guess I need to turn this thing off then and get a volt meter from my dad to find out for sure. Thanks for the all the info on this so far.

How much 12v deviation should I expect?

Once more thing, if the voltage is that low, could it damage my system? My video card has a 12v running into it, could the low voltage somehow kill it?

How much 12v deviation should I expect?

Well, it's crashed once, and that's what made me suspect the pws... the one I have in this system is really cheap, I paid 30 bucks for the case and pws together. I was actually pretty surprised to see it so low because my other system is dead on when it comes to 12v. Time to get a new one I guess!

How much 12v deviation should I expect?

My +12v reads 10.43v under SpeedFan, is this too much of a gap from where it should be?

    A64 only running at 800mhz?

Yep that fixed it, the max mult I could set it up to was 10x (bios limit), so 10x and the volt at 1.50 did the job, it's now running stable at 2.0ghz! Even if it could do 2.2, I could only see putting the fsb at 220 and trying that out. But we'll keep it at 2.0 and see how stable it is for now...

    A64 only running at 800mhz?

Flashing the bios to the most current version was the last thing I tried before swapping out the motherboards. I wanted to make sure it wasnt a software issue before ordering the new part. Sure enough, two motherboards and the latest bios on each still only recognized the cpu at 800mhz... I'm...

Cool, I'll try this. Hopefully this will work. Thanks for the insight.

    A64 only running at 800mhz?

Hmm, no, I would even alt tab out of games to check and see. It would still always run at 800

    A64 only running at 800mhz?

I had to do that everytime I manually set the mult too high... never seemed to clear up the problem.

    A64 only running at 800mhz?

I bet you're right... too bad his cpu was bought a little over a year ago. He joined the AF guard after he pieced together his new system. It wasn't until recently that he was back home and out of tech school and able to use his computer again.
