Napp-it - USB drive shows as removed

Thanks Gea, plenty to go at there. I appreciate you taking the time to come back to me. I thought the thread was going to get hijacked for a moment then:) Am I understanding you correct - Can I use clonezilla to clone the USB sticks to a SATA drive and end up with a bootable system?

Napp-it - USB drive shows as removed

_gea Do you think that DOM sticks is the solution? are they 512Bytes rather than 4K. The problem I have is I want to mirror onto a new drive then add a second drive to mirror the boot devices. It is not practical to remove the boot device every time I make a config change to image to another...

Napp-it - USB drive shows as removed

Thanks for your replies. We tried to move away from USB onto Intel S3500 boot drives. The way we were hoping to do this was to put them in a mirror with the USB device, remove the usb device and then mirror the second s3500 but I think the USB device is in 512bytes and the S3500 is 4Kb so it...

Napp-it - USB drive shows as removed

I am booting from USB for the Omni OS and Nappit installation. As per recommendations I purchased 2 devices in a bid to mirror the Rpool. Yet Napp-it reports the second USB device as removed. c4t0d0 - - removed 33.1 GB - PNY USB 3.0 FD I am wondering if this has...

Need to rebuild my Napp IT Box

Hi All, I have had some issues with my Napp-it box for a few months which I have been unable to resolve. It has never been an issue with Napp-it more to do with me configuring network bonding I think. Anyway I have now moved away from bonding and upgraded to 10GB NICS, however I also wanted...

    Napp-it - SCSI transport failed

decided on intel, it works fine in the other machine and in the grand scheme of things a few extra ££ is worth the hassle free experience.

OpenZFS NAS (BSD, Illumos, Linux, OSX, Solaris, Windows + Storage Spaces) with napp-it web-gui

Reason I ask above question is I don't fancy running without hot spares?

OpenZFS NAS (BSD, Illumos, Linux, OSX, Solaris, Windows + Storage Spaces) with napp-it web-gui

Levak thanks for your reply, sorry I had got the SSD's the wrong way round they are in fact configured the way suggested. On the vdev are you saying we would be better runing more 4+2 arrays, so for instance 3 x 4+2 arrays = 18 disks total. That would then mean 3 x S3700 drives for the SLOG...

OpenZFS NAS (BSD, Illumos, Linux, OSX, Solaris, Windows + Storage Spaces) with napp-it web-gui

OK I think I have found the answer to my own question number 2, but just to confirm my thoughts after reading up we should replace the faulty disk and let the spare disk (which is currently in use) return to a hot spare? On another note I think I may had made some errors setting this up in the...

OpenZFS NAS (BSD, Illumos, Linux, OSX, Solaris, Windows + Storage Spaces) with napp-it web-gui

Firstly I apologies for this lengthy post. We implemented 2 zfs boxes recently and whilst I did a lot of research before actually deciding on the final build and OS I am no where near an expert on zfs. In fact recent events have highlighted how little I know about this. So it is time to step up...

    Napp-it - SCSI transport failed

thanks Patrickdk. I am fairly new to the ZFS territory but I am having to learn very fast as we have had some issues with one of the appliances. Anyway am I right in thinking that if we assign different IP addresses to the individual network ports citrix xen server will recognise them as part of...

    Napp-it - SCSI transport failed

Hi gea We are going to take your advice. on the 10GB. Do you know if Mellanox cards work as they do not list Solaris. However the card we have in the other storage device isn't list either (it is Intel 10GB) but that one works?

OpenZFS NAS (BSD, Illumos, Linux, OSX, Solaris, Windows + Storage Spaces) with napp-it web-gui

Anyone, I am kinda worried about a disk in the Zpool, in nappit it shows under the error column in the disks menu. One disk shows this S:1 H:10 T:28, this was showing as S:1 H:10 T:24 yesterday. Could this mean the disk is on it's way out?

    Napp-it - SCSI transport failed

OK Thanks Gea. We will make a purchase as soon as I have confirmed this is stable, after every hard reboot it usually takes days before anything happens again. Do you think the link aggregation could cause the issue I have been experiencing?
