Yes, self-built PCs can be a joke indeed - you'll be laughing if you're putting everything together the correct way and never look back... But, for $2000, you could also have bought an off-the-shelf PC, or you could try to cram a GTX 560 into an iMac ;)

As you can see from the beginning of the thread, I had the same concerns. Now, after just turning one fan the right way (see tangoseal's comment and what I then did), the cores are between 62°C and 70°C which is no problem for 24/7 rendering operation - at least for me, this is perfectly ok :)...
Well, the cases came supplied with two fans each which I removed, maybe I should just put them back in...

@tangoseal Well spotted, fan detective. You know what I did? Looking through my assembly photographs, I oriented it as should be when I tried out the fitting to check space, cabeling, etc. and when I mounted it for real - I put the cooler on 180° - twice. Ouch, now I look like a right old prick...
