    Well, i've purchased a new PSU and also replaced my mobo. the 12V is now spot on, however the raid still shows as degraded. I've set the "failed" hdd to "Fail" and re-activated it but i'm unable to re-introduce it into the array. How to i make the array accept the "failed" drive? EDIT: Also...

    is it possible my drives were damaged? Also the raid6 array is degraded, cant just replace a psu and reconnect the "free" drive?

    The psu is semi modular, the big 24p connector goes straight out of the psu...the modular connections are for all sorts of connections but the big one feeding the board is straight out of the psu.
