they can do it on the basis that it's the "effective" speed, but nothing reports effective speed. annoying, i know. pm redbeard about it if REALLY bothers you ;)
hahaha, too bad i can do something like re-running 1m to get that much of a time difference :p :D
edit: dammit, i need to learn to log out and log back in... and stop hijacking my gf's account :p
go to hotornot.com
sorry. had to :p
for installing a heatsink, this is what i do:
1. clean both surfaces with 99% isopropyl alcohol
2. small dab of as5/ceramique in the center of the ihs
3. mount heatsink
4. world domination!
that's why the heatspreaders are there though.. makes it a lot harder to break the core, and with the backplate, the mobo won't warp like those silly lga775 boards do with the stock heatsink :(
the g.skill hz actually are pretty good. the corsair is as well, but i think that on average, those g.skill will win an overclocking contest, since corsair puts the best ic's into the 6400C3 and 8500C5
the g.skill pc6400 HZ is good stuff.. g.skill recently started putting micron chips in them, i'm pretty sure it's D9GMH.. should be capable of breaking 500mhz with the right fine tuning ;)
keep in mind that you can get a pretty good overclock out of the conroe and run the ram at 1:1 with...
