...which is exactly what i did.
But only because i got a sweet deal on a 2nd hand 670.
Finished Last Light yesterday, great game.
It played very well, with all settings maxed out except for ssaa which was turned off.
50-60 fps in general with dips to 30-40 but only in extreme situations...
Someone else mentioned this app on the AMD forum too.
Seems weird since i've never heard or read about this before so i'm a bit sceptic.
Anyone have any experience with this app?
If it really does exactly the same as Adaptive Vsync, then a 7950 is a better buy at the moment imo.
Thanks for the replies.
I should add that this upgrade's only purpose is for me to game for 3-5 months and only for the games mentioned before.
Once i'm back from travelling a year, the first thing i always do is upgrade my entire pc and a new and fast graphic card will be part of that.
So...
Hi people,
I sold my 6950 yesterday to order a Nvidia card, mainly because i want to use Adaptive Vsync.
The second reason is that in a few months i'm going travelling for about a year and want to play as many games on my list before i leave :
StarCraft II, The Witcher 2, Metro Last Light...
Thanks for the replies.
I've never heard or read about RadeonPro though.
Does anyone else have any experience with this or a similar App for the Radeon Series?
Thanks
Ps : The title should've said HD 7950 vs GTX 670 :)
Dear fellow gamers,
I'm on the verge of selling my 6950 and buying either the 7950 or the 670.
The 7950 is a better budget choice here in Belgium (roughly 260 vs 325).
But i've read about Nvidia's Adaptive Vsync (AVS) and it sounds very sweet to me.
Since i really don't like tearing i...
Indeed the difference between the 640 and 955 is 52$ (115 vs 167) and even though there are reports of the 955 working on this board, there are also some reports of it not working so i´d prefer the safer route with the 640.
I plan to play several games going back from Mass Effect 1 (May 2008) to...
I was contemplating that last bit.
In other words, if all of the listed CPUs would maximize my GTX-260´s potential, which would be the best buy because that´s all the CPU power i need for now until my next upgrade.
Costwise the x4 640 looks the most attractive as the x4 840 is basically the same...
Thanks on that last tip.
I looked further into that and it seems this board unofficialy supports several "newer" cpus that should work like the Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition (167$).
So which one is best for gaming? X4 955 or X4 840?
They are both clocked the same only the 840 (146$) has no L3...
Sorry forgot to mention i live in Belgium and these are the lowest new prices i could find here.
Those listed CPU´s are the highest my mainboard will take so the X4 840 is no option i´m afraid.
Thanks for any further advice you might have..
Hi people, just a quickie.
I own the below rig and was wondering which of the listed CPUs would be the best choice for gaming?
Rig :
Nvidia Geforce GTX-260 768 Mb
AMD Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition (OC´ed to 3,0 Ghz)
4 GB DDR2-800
Asus M2A-VM HDMI Mainboard
CPUs :
Athlon II X3 445...
Thanks for the replies.
Sorry, don´t know the exact model and i´m travelling at the moment so can´t find out.
No plans on a multi-gpu in the future but i´ll probably go for a 750W anyway since they are not much more expensive and i want this PSU to last another upgrade in the future..
Cheers!
Thanks.
http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine calculates a minimum of 373 and a maximum of 423.
I could always try with my old PSU first?
How does one notice his PSU is not suffucient? (even if it would boot the system?)
Hi, how are you people?
I´m planning to upgrade my current rig and the final build will be :
ATI Radeon 6950
Intel Core i5-2500K (OCed of course :p but only on air)
ASUS P8Z68V-LX Mainboard
2 x 4 GB DDR3-1600 Corsair Vengeance
1 x DVD drive
1 TB Samsung Spinpoint F1 SATA
Creative Labs Audigy...
Never mind, i found another thread in which some users were successful in their overclocks with this board, exactly what i needed to know :

Cheers!
