If it is a green flicker try disabling both Dynamic Contrast and Video Demo Mode (if enabled). For me, if I enable Dynamic Contrast I get a green bar at the bottom of the screen and a flicker over the majority of the rest of the screen. Hope you get it working.
If you are passing the audio through to the TV than you have to use the TV volume to control it.
I don't believe that digital passthrough volume can be controlled from the desktop.

btw it seems some people have had trouble getting the actual volume knob to work so you might want to look into that.
The fix for optical is to goto Playback Devices and right click the Via HDMI Device, select properties and than rename it to "Digital TOSLINK". The Via software should now recognize the Optical out and it can be selected from there.

In the options basic page you can opt for chrome to open to any page you find appealing. Likewise just open the history page and select delete history, additionally, CCleaner will also cleanup chrome.

ok. However, it does work fine for dvd playback for me(which is all I need) and if it's that much easier to install than other routes than it's well worth it. I understand most people need more than just the basics, just thought I'd throw the suggestion out.
