The one question that has not been answered or addresed is, will the 6970 run my 6 monitor setup? What adaptors will i need to change? Coz of only 2 display ports on the new cards. Seems ATI left out that important info the last go round with there x6 cards.

What I did after reading all the trouble users were having with the passive adapters, i just bit the bullet and bought the dell adaptor. haven't had a problems with this setup. :)

Why would you not R.M.A the card? It sounds like a cheaper option. I think you just had some bad luck. 3rd times the charm ;) I would buy anther card for crossfire. Then you have a backup card. As far as cards go, XFX & EVGA have the best warranties out there. Those are the only ones I buy.
