    Installing new E8500

    This is my first build, and I'm concerned about how I will go about installing the E8500 processor. For the moment I plan to use the stock heatsink and fan, but it did not come with thermal paste. It appears that there is some kind of thick stripes of a compound on the underside of the heatsink...

    perhaps you should wipe your hard disk and reinstall windows and see if that helps, since it could always be a problem with the software rather than the hardware.

I thought it was so bloated that it would detract from the performance of my system. maybe there is hope for it if you are suggesting it then...but really why would it be better than...

    Nah Hurdler, I'm quoting prices from australian suppliers. Just gave newegg links because they're simplest. And I think I might get some of that G skill ram, looks nice. Do you think I should get windows xp 64 bit version so I can use the full 4gig?
