So, answers to all questions here:
- I'm using Coretemp v0.95 and SpeedFan v4.32 which report the same temp, as well as the same seen by AlAisuite,
- I opened the cased and it dropped the idling temp only from 2 C: I got 40 C now, terrific!
- I pushed on the heatsink for about 2 minutes...
Thanks for the ideas.
I've to run for a longer time with the case opened to check, that's a good idea, I only did it for a few minutes.
I bought my E6400 in December: may be it's part of the first bad ones? That will have to wait this week-end for flatness check now.
Is it possible to...
I got an E6400 on stock speed on an Asus P5B-E in a P150 case.
With Intel HSF I got 42C when idle and 51C with Orthos (15 min.), when room temp is 27C.
Before trying any OC I decided to improve those temp and bought:
- Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme + Scythe SFF21F,
- AS5,
- another SFF21F...
That was done with everything off (antispyware, antivirus...).
But effectively something is accessing this drive periodically, but I can't think what it is.
Other drive (WD - 250 G) seems OK, I got:
I run Hdtune and realized looking at other people results than mine was weird.
It shows every few sec a drop in the rate (down to 15 MB/sec).
I also noticed that every few seconds (related?) my LED drive is turning ON even when I'm doing nothing (since I built the PC).
Any ideas?
PS: How...
I just built a system and started to play with all Asus Adjustment tools.
I've built few systems in the past, but never OC them, so this is kind of new to me...
I was surprised to see opening this Al Booster tool which indicates FSB that by default the setting is like x6 - 266 Mhz when idle...
