Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I'm worried it will start and then fail. But I guess you're suggesting it will either do the upgrade, or if cannot, it will let me know before it starts overwriting the OS partition?
I saw some complaints that the terminals on these are smaller than the terminals on the APC OEM batteries, and the cables fit slightly looser. Apparently there are adapters to make the terminals one size larger.
Thanks.
What kind of lifespan are you getting from these no-name-brand batteries? Do you feel like runtime during an outage is comparable to the OEM batteries?
Can you link the batteries you bought? My BR1500G is also a 1500VA UPS.
Separately, have you considered using lithium iron phosphate batteries as replacements for the lead acid batteries that come with most UPS units?
Genuine APC battery for the BR1500G is $80 on Amazon. Non-APC replacements are $56-58. Given these batteries last roughly 5 years, I don't see why people bother trying to save $24 over 5 years on a battery that probably won't last as long and probably has shorter runtime.
Now if I could get a...
My APC BR1500G UPS last had battery replaced 5-1/2 years ago. I see the battery symbol flashing with a 'X' in it. And it did do some rapid beeping earlier today, that I muted. I guess this is a clear indication that battery needs replacing?
Strange thing is it shows nearly 30min remaining run...
Depends on use case. I was hitting 100% utilization on i5-12600K (non-OC'ed) occasionally. Not hitting that now that I'm using 12900K (non-OC'ed). I don't game at all and don't using gaming GPUs, just little old workstation GPU with a blower fan. CPU does all the heavy lifting for my use case...
I ran Prime95 (couldn't find 26.6, so just downloaded the latest). Ran "Just stress testing" option for 15min, no errors or warnings in Prime95.
CPU is i9-12900K with ThermalRight Peerless Assassin 120 air cooler on MSI Z690 Pro A board.
Avg temp was 77*C. Max was 100*C on several, but not...
Upgraded to 12900K. Is there a good test to run to confirm good application of paste and contact w/ heatsink?
Also, I'm using Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 and kinda want to see how much I can push it before CPU throttles (not overclocking).
Saw some Youtube videos talking about mobos for Intel 15th gen CPU, and the boards discussed have CAMM2 RAM, so now I'm wondering what the future is for SO-DIMM DDR5? DDR4 had a very long run, but maybe SO-DIMM DDR5 will die an early death?
I remember when AlderLake first came out, there was a lot of discussion about the LGA1700 retainer bending the CPU's IHS. On my MSI Z690-A Pro board, I didn't bother with one of the aftermarket anti-bending brackets when running i5-12400 or i5-12600K.
But now that I'm going to i9-12900K, is it...
Yeah, pretty incredible for a $35 cooler.
I guess I'll go with the 12900K. The extra $40 over the 12700K is small enough that I'd rather pay it and ride it longer than I'd ride the 12700K before the next upgrade. My biggest concern was about heat and noise with trying to cool the 12900K, but...
