I recently built my son's new gaming rig for his birthday, with an Asus Maximus V Gene mobo and an HD 7870XT, and everything seemed to be working fine. Installed Windows 7 Pro, drivers, and Windows updates, rebooting periodically without any problems.
Upon giving him the new rig and setting...
Seasonic x750 Gold - I heard some rumors that some folks with them had trouble with P67, but I didn't have a spare PSU to test that theory. I don't know where the incompatibility was between my hardware and P67, but everything I have works fine with Z68 (see specs below).
For me, going from P67 to Z68 was a no-brainer. I spent 4 months trying to get my P67 boards working smoothly. I've had my Z68 board in for 4 days and it's been working perfectly from the first boot.
Another common fix: go to APM in the Advanced tab and enable "Power on by PCIE". Everything else should be disabled. Also, some folks reported various problems being fixed by using either the TPU or the AI Suite autotune to do a mild overclock, presumably using the autotune to find stable...
Already upgraded to the P8Z68-V Pro. After dealing with ongoing sleep and stability issues for 4 months with both the P8P67 Pro and Deluxe, I'm using the exact same hardware with the P8Z68-V Pro and have had no problems. I'm actually not interested in any of the Z68 features - just wanted a...
Also, to answer your question about XMP, it's in the AI Tweaker menu, under AI Overclock Tuner. Have you tried clearing CMOS yet? Clearing CMOS and disabling PLL OV fixes most double booting issues. What BIOS are you running?
Nothing but headaches with the P8P67 Pro and Deluxe, have been running a P8Z68-V Pro with the exact same hardware for 24 hours with no hiccups. Maybe I was unlucky, but why take the risk with P67?
tlc4tvm, instead of flaming, you could try being helpful. If you'd bothered to check the Gigabyte Z68 boards on newegg, you'd know that many of them require a discrete GPU. So if the OP wanted a board that could run on just the onboard graphics they won't work for him. Pot..kettle...black.
I checked online Thursday and there were a couple in stock at Rockville - reserved one immediately and picked it up Friday. Have to give them credit, not only did they let me swap my P8P67 Deluxe B3 (which itself was a replacement for my original P8P67 Pro B2), but they honored my combo discount...
Had multiple issues with P67 boards, now running a P8Z68-V Pro, and, so far, everything has gone smoothly. If you're still within your exchange period, it might be worth the hassle of returning it and going with Z68, even if you have no interest in using it's supposed advantages.
Found HardForum specifically because I was looking for info on this problem. My B2 Pro board was fine, but my replacement B3 Deluxe board suffers from double boots, the S3 resume problem, and the occasional freeze (although that hasn't happened in a few days now).
My RealSSD C300 boot drive is...
