It really does look like a D14 clone. Not that I guess there's anything wrong with that...competition and all. It does make me wonder if we've hit the limit for air-cooled tech. Till someone figures out that heatpipes made from unobtanium work 5C cooler, this is probably it.
I surely don't want to do this twice....
I was wondering, did you leave the stock fan setup, is there a better one?
Should I have it blowing straight up out of the case?
Looking at it, I hope it fits in my Cooler Master CM 690 II... It's going to be close I think.
I just ordered a D14 myself. Hoping no issues. Need to get temps down, and the Hyper 212 is great for a mild OC, but it won't handle the heat I'm trying to put out. Hoping for good things from the D14....given that it's almost half the cost of my CPU.
Coolmaster Hyper 212 Plus on an Intel I7 860, but it's not keeping the temps down under load. Especially with HT turned on. 65C without HT, it'll go to 85C with. Not good.
Maybe I'll go with an NH-D14, but the price sucks.
Thanks for the tip. I found Guru3D - DriverSweeper. Sounds like it should do it.
Control Panel uninstall of ATI stuff
Boot into safe mode, run Driver Sweeper
Install new card, load Nvidia drivers
crunch units...
I can hunt more for this info, but it I've read that it's best to...
My 460 card showed up today, and the current bigadv unit will finish tonight, so I'll play with it some tomorrow. Maybe tonight.
I just hope that moving from ATI drivers to Nvidia isn't going to be a nghtmare.
I've always heard good things about the NH-D14. Looking at this page:

It looks like I'm getting similar temps with similar clocks with the Hyper though. Even their Noctu didn't keep their 920 cool past 3.8GHz. I guess I never thought about the...
The largest big unit I've crunched took roughly an hour/frame, so ~4 days. I haven't seen anything that took more time since I started. There are some larger that will choke my machine?
It is hard to keep the temp down with HT turned on. At least at 4GHz. I bought a Hyper 212 Plus for it, but it still gets warmer than I would like. I don't know if the heat is part of the problem. It was hard for me to pin down anything. It's running 61C at 3.6GHz, and it goes up really...
I have the i7-860 running at 3.6GHz right now. I was having some stability problems at 4GHz...random reboot every 2-3 days. Never figured it out. I could creep up to 3.8 maybe, but I have zero issues at 3.6GHz. Not sure how people get them to 4.2 and such.
Crunching on a 2685 WU right...
I'm currently folding big units on a i7-860. I guess I average overall just over 20K PPD, with some fluctuations depending on what I get thrown next.
I wanted to add one or two GPUs to the mix, but my experience has been that I can't have my CPU running maxed out, or the GPU I have is...
