Cheap Mac for 24/7 usage: mini or macbook?

The main difference with the mini server (other than OS X Server) is the lack of a DVD drive, which has been replaced with a second 2.5" hard drive. Aftermarket brackets are available for the regular mini ($50) which do the same thing. The mini was recently updated, so I doubt it will be...

    24" Samsung and PlayStation3 combo...display problems!

I don't think so, at least not without some additional hardware to run that software on. Your display doesn't have an "Aspect", "Format", "Fit", or "Stretch" option in the OSD? If not, I've played with it stretched vertically before (I also have a 24" 16:10 WUXGA), and it's not so bad. You...

    Purchasing: Plasma/DLP/LCD?

I recently bought the TH-50PX80U (50" 720p) from Amazon for about the same price, free delivery. Amazing picture - I wasn't sure about Plasma before I bought it, but I couldn't be happier with my decision. My neighbor's 46" Sony LCD is too crispy looking - harsh picture. I also wasn't sure...

PS3 "HDMI to DVI" connection problems..!!

I had the same issue with my PS3. It's because the PS3 uses HDCP over HDMI - you'll need a monitor that can provide an hdcp handshake, use an adapter that can provide an hdcp handskake, or use component output. I bought an HDFury, works like a charm. I have HDMI -> DVI cable from the PS3...

    Lenovo LED backlit LCDs

Quality of what isn't good? I own a Lenovo Thinkpad T60p with a 15" IPS display, and it's the most well constructed computer I've ever used. The display is also the best to ever grace a laptop- bright, relatively accurate colors, wide viewing angles, high resolution. Of course, their monitors...

    Great Monitor for Text Clarity

Is your LCD connected via DVI or VGA? Are you using ClearType? (You should, just be sure to play with the slider so it looks good to your eyes..) Other than that, there's a new Dell 23" that has a resolution of 2048x1152, which should be great for text...

Any new 26" IPS comming out?

I contacted Planar concerning the unavailability of the px2611w, a rep told me they're just having supply issues, and that the model is "definitely not discontinued." He said you'll be able to order it directly from their web store starting Nov 21 (and presumably elsewhere, too.)

    NEC 2690WUXi updated ( NEC 2690WUXi 2 )

Read that it goes on sale Nov 20 in Japan. I'd also like to know more about the V2's lag and whether or not it makes noise - I was about to pull the trigger on a pair of V1's.

Planar 26" has a slight humming. How concerned should I be?

Heh. . I remember tearing around my room in the middle of the night looking for a buzz that turned out to be my cell phone charger. My girlfriend thought I was crazy. I think many LCDs make a faint hum. I know my Sony sdm-p234 usually does, but not enough to bother me. Until it recently...

    z7s ws need advice

Asus maintains that the E5420 is not supported?! WTF? Why not? Their web site clearly says "Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor 5300/5400 Sequence". Unless you really want the overclocking abilities of the bios, if I were you I'd RMA that piece and get a Supermicro X7DWA-N or X7DWE.

    Skulltrail questions

I haven't been able to find one in stock anywhere- I have read they'll be available in April. (ie- soon). Where have you seen them? I believe the answers to 1) and 2) are both yes. 3) Usually with FB-DIMMS and intel 5xxx chipsets, you have to run modules in pairs, though the skulltrail might...

    Asus Z7S WS Skulltrail

Woah.. I've got a Z7S WS and an EVGA 8800GT on order. Did you speak with Asus? Did you have the 8800GT(s) in one of the x16 slots? I'm not giving up on this combo yet.. :)

How is the speed of the Nec LCD2690WUXI H-IPS ?

It's probably more than fast enough. I've got a Sony SDM-P234-B, a 23" S-IPS (slightly older than H-IPS) and I've not had any problems with gaming or video.
