Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I would like to have a managed solution that will backup all users on my [work] network from the main Server. Any suggestions?
Something like Symantec Backup Exec.
Hi All,
On trying to access an OMNIOS cifs share from Windows I get the usual network password popup dialog and it tries to authenticate using a local user account. What I want is a generic password prompt which accepts username and password ie not linked to any user account.
I had solved...
When you get a new drive always check and save the SMART values so you can compare later on. In windows crystaldiskinfo is a good choice. In Linux there is smartctl.
First thing to check is power on hours value to see if drive is new or used or if refurbished how much use will give you an idea...
I initially had an issue where Windows tried to authenticate to share with local account only and refuse to accept any other type of login…then I removed all id mapping in OMNIOS and I cleared cached logins in Windows.
In the end this is the setup that did what I wanted:

I would like to create a CIFS share in Omnios which requires a password to access. I do not want to have map a Windows account to a Unix Account for it to be accessible in Windows. The share must also be accessible by Linux, Android etc. All this without special OS config other than what is...
Hi All,
How does one go about detecting a network drop/disconnect. This is not limited to wireless but also to wired connections. Usually people use it to refer to a wireless device losing a connection for a big enough period of time that they notice. The actual drop might be longer than they...
Hi All,
I have two existing mirrored pools with data on it. Lets call it pool A and pool B.
Pool A has disk1 and disk 2 while pool B has disk3 and disk4.
I would like to combine A and B into one pool (but keeping the 2 mirrors intact). Sadly you cannot just zpool add A B.
Would this do what I...
Unless your going for a ssd type usb flash drive I would group the reliability of all the rest pretty much the same. No manufacturer would give any such info unless its based on ssd tech. In fact many usb flash drives don't even come with performance specs.
Most of the usb flash drives I have...

Its amazing so few cases come with covers for the fan holes. I mean is it so hard to put screwable covers for every vent, so you only use what you want? Excessive vents without airflow...
My logic is this. You bought a SSD to take advantage of it. Moving temp to slower medium defeats some of the usefulness of a fast SSD. The life savings will be insignificant...but you can always overprovision if that is really a concern.
Now that said if your using your SSD for heavy writing...
