So...wuts the latest word on 30incher release dates???

BD and HD-DVD are 1080p. DVD is 480. There is no broadcast content at 1080P that I know of - at least in the US. You are going to have a hard time using these monitors for connections to anything other than a PC if you want 2560 X 1600 (which is not a currently defined HD resolution).

I respectfully disagree - I much prefer an external scaler - they are vastly better and can be used for all sources. Putting a scaler - which are not usually very good - into the monitor just makes the monitor more expensive. I thought even the MultiSync monitors had a native resolution...

So...wuts the latest word on 30incher release dates???

Sure - they are playing the DVD movies (480i) from the PC and the video card is upscaling them to the monitor's native resolution. DVD does not require HDCP (though some folks think it should for upscaling - seperate topic). There are standalone DVD players and media players that will upscale...

So...wuts the latest word on 30incher release dates???

Not clear to me exactly what you are expecting: 1) These 30 inch fixed pixel 2560 X 1600 Monitors to scale BD / HD-DVD up or... 2) These 30 Inch fixed pixel 2560 X 1600 Monitors to scale down to BD / HD-DVD native resolutions? If you are looking for something that has a built in scaler...

So...wuts the latest word on 30incher release dates???

I think Snowdog is correct - Though I hear the new video cards coming out will support dual link HDCP (though I am not sure the HDCP spec scales that high in resolution). Can't really fault the monitor though for the cards not support HDCP with dual link. Let me check on the HDCP specs.

So...wuts the latest word on 30incher release dates???

Well....it is a mess right now playing BD / HD-DVD movies via your PC. While ICT flags are not set, the only software I know of that plays PC based BD / HD-DVD movies (WINDVD 8) is ignoring that and down rezing anyway. If you want to know more about this, please check the follow thread at AVS...

So...wuts the latest word on 30incher release dates???

Hmmm. Seems the Samsung does not have HDCP - though I hate HDCP, I can't ignore it for what I want to do. http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=4874 Thanks.

So...wuts the latest word on 30incher release dates???

Not sure what you are talking about Happy Hopping. I do not think the current dell and the HP 3065 use the same panel they have much different color gamut specs for example - why are you so sure they do? Also - What specs don't you like about the HP 3065 and what panel do you know of that...

So...wuts the latest word on 30incher release dates???

HD-DVD, BD, Cable, etc all use compressed video - I am not sure why you think it is uncompressed. MPEG 2, VC-1, h.264, and etc all compress the video signal. I am not sure why it would be too difficutly to upscale to the monitor's native resolution with a good dual link video card. It...

    HDCP - What the heck?

Might want to check out the AVS forum - people that have used BD and HD-DVD with WIN DVD 8. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=751319

!?@?! Thanks for the correction, Stalker - Dell ships in one week. Love to see a review (detailed) between the 3007 and 3065.

So...wuts the latest word on 30incher release dates???

Thanks zzz for the info and link. Are the new 3007 and 3065 going to be more similar (picture quality wise) and now the decesion is more based on price / features? Dell doesn't have a firm date of availablity, while 3065 is currently shipping. Maybe a pro-active press release to curb...

So...wuts the latest word on 30incher release dates???

Stalker - you funny. I am not sure - I have the same questions. Looks like the Dell ...."Dell achieves this distinction by using a Wide Cold-Cathode Fluorescent Lighting (W-CCFL) backlight." Does this tie back a particular manufacturer and/or panel type? Or is the back light independent...
