Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. I run my 16gb of ripjaws at 2400 on my R4E but they are rated for 2400. I am certain they will go higher too because I'm only using 1.6v instead of the default 1.65v.
I have a QX6700 mounted on an Abit Max3 mobo down in the basement. That rig served me well until I finally decided to upgrade a few weeks ago.
If I were in a mindset to build around that chip today and were in need of a mobo, I'd actually look for an EVGA mobo.
I'm running x79 w/quad channel memory. If I were to fire up several VM's, I'd imagine I'd realize a significant performance jump vs. dual or triple channel.
According to AIDA64, my 16gb CAS11 ram running at 2400 is the fastest of all the systems, in every RAM benchmark I run. Granted, my CPU is at 4.6G. I see a significant perfomance hit by running at CAS9 and 1600.
This is on my RIVE with 3930.
You can always stall an upgrade, and also. something new is always just around the corner.
My 775 rig, I built around that beast heat-monger Qx chip was still going strong. I have kept in the game with GPU upgrades over the years and really, could have lasted another year with that rig...
On my Rampage Extreme 4, the cpu temp displayed by AU Suite II is always 7-10c lower than Core Temp, Real Temp and Aida64. I can run them all at the same time or individually and the result is the same. Which should I trust?
Sorry in advance if this has already been answered but I did try...
I use S3 sleep so the long post times don't bother me as much.
OP, I'd be careful with those built-in profiles. They set voltages up much higher than you probably need. One of them, and I can't remember which, allows vcore to exceed 1.6v when stressing. I was able to exceed that OC using...
Not sure how relevent, but I just upgraded from QX6700 system to an ASUS Rampage IV Extreme with 3930 and am totally stoked. I also got two M4 SSD's, one for OS and one for my games. The upgrade was like jumping into the future!
Still haven't found my sweet spot - running 4.6Ghz @ 1.32...
LOL, cardboarded windows?
My home office has two windows and I sometimes actually have to squint in the early AM when the sun is rising. The windows are to the left of my monitor but if this were a glossy screen, the only thing I would be able to see would be the shine off my forehead.
Looks like you have the camera set to the wrong light setting for this. Thing is, I don't know which setting is right either, especially ambient light in the room is a factor, so I would just try a different one. Or maybe play with the exposure settings some too?
I really wasn't trying to start a war. I guess because of some recent upgrades I've made (going from a 24" 1920x1200 to a 30" 2560x1600), some games required me to play at less than my default res. I have since replaced my GTX 280 with 2 GTX580's so that I can play my favorite titles at max...
