    Windows XP and Fragmentation Level

What purpose are you using that system for? I do some video editing and such and have set DK to run everyday, as i need a regular defrag. I guess you could review the situation once a thorough defrag is done, perhaps you could see how fast it gets cluttered again.

Why is my harddrive always working?

It might be swap file activity? Hw much RAM u running on? Check if the drive is full or badly fragmented, run a disk cleanup and defragment the drive if thats the case.

    Computer has gotten reall slowwww!

Dont you need to have more than that much free Disk space for the defrag to show improvement in performance? I guess unless its a third part tool you need atleast 15% free space for the defrag..am i right guys?

Slow shut down (windows xp pro)

I guess first thing you may try is to do system restore. else clear startup items, possible your system resources are consumed by lot of processes. Also run chkdsk and defrag your system. If the drive is cluttered doing this will seriously improve the performance of the system.

Do you really need 15% free space to defrag?

Some third party tools defrag with lesser free space. For improvement through defrag atleast 15% free space is needed for the defragmenter to move chunks around and place them contiguously. You could run the disk cleanup and try to free up some spac and also if ou have music, snaps etc, burn...
