Please help to enable Overscan on my TV

Yeah, the component adapters seem to have replaced the S-Vid/Composite adapters that used to always come with gfx cards. I must have 5 or 6 of those S-Vid/Composite cables left over from my old cards. You could always ask a mate if they have one lying around, or just buy one. montypythizzle...

Please help to enable Overscan on my TV

You should have got an S-Video to Composite converter cable with the card (single yellow phono socket). You can use this to connect to the composite video connector, and connect the sound from your sound card's audio-out directly to the 2x composite sound connectors.

Upgrading to 8800 w/o upgrading other parts?

An 8800 should give you a boost over the 7800s, but your CPU and Ram are definitely holding you back. I'd advise going for a Core 2 Duo+Mobo+DDR2 Upgrade kit. Even a budget C2D can be o'clocked way beyond the performance of your 3700. If your budget is tight, you could get the 8800 now, and...

Will you buy the G92 high end?

What card are you guys actually talking about? The G92 is EIGHTH Gen, including the current 8800GT and upcoming revised GTS and possibly a revised GTX. The NINTH-gen cards (9800?) are NOT based on G92. These are NVIDIA's new codenames: D8M: Eighth generation mainstream...

Will you buy the G92 high end?

I certainly won't be getting a G92, as I already have a GTX. I'm not sure what you mean by 'high end', since the GT and GTS are the only confirmed G92 cards, and they're not really 'high end' (a new GTX based on G92 is still just speculation). I'm waiting for the D9E (9800) due early next year.

Please help to enable Overscan on my TV

Make sure the TV input is set to COMPONENT, and that all cables are connected to their proper connectors. I had the same problem with a black & white picture (ages ago), but I only had the video cables connected. When I connected the sound cables, I got colour.

    8800GT+2 8800GTXs? on one board?

Ah, I didn't know there was a "SLI mode" for drivers, I've never used SLI.

    8800GT+2 8800GTXs? on one board?

Isn't it like 2 gfx cards on their own, not in SLI?. Can you install drivers twice?

Gears of War PC Performance and IQ @ [H]

So why did screenmakers move to a widescreen format, instead of tallscreen? Because nobody wants to see more sky and dirt, when the important stuff (enemies, buildings) are to the left and right 99% of the time.

Ah right, I was thinking of fixed-pixel games like Diablo, which can't be stretched in any direction.

Yeah, older 2D games that simulate 3D (isometric view) are a fixed-pixel size (4:3) so must be viewed with black bars on either side, or stretched (like old TV shows on a widescreen TV).

Here's how Crysis looks at ANY 4:3 resolution (1600x1200, 1920x1440, etc): >>>>>>>>>>> Here's the same view at ANY 16:10 resolution (1650x1080, 1920x1200, etc): The widescreen view will always show more.

JDAdams: "for the 3D rendered environment to be an accurate simulation" As I said in my previous post, It's NOT MEANT to be an accurate simulation, that's what VR helmets are for!!! JDAdams: "Yes, you can play from a couch, far away from the screen, but you lose immersion doing that"...
