Currently using a Koolance Exos2 watercooling system but the reservoir has a slow leak. This is the second time I've had the reservoir spring a leak and I'm undecided on whether or not I'm going to futz around with it to bypass the reservoir entirely. So I want to get an air cooling solution...
Whatever system you get, avoid using a reservoir. I've had a Koolance Exos2 pop 2 reservoirs now and it's just not worth the hassle-compared to my boyfriend's DIY watercooling system that, while a pain in the ass to drain/refill, is still working just fine without a reservoir.
I'm not all that experienced, but fwiw, I love my Asus boards. Haven't had problems and I've been using the same Asus board for around 4 years (just upgraded last week and yes, I got another Asus).
I'm running Oblivion well on 2 gigs of RAM (PQI), AMD 3800 X2 Manchester and GeForce 7900GT. I...
The SLI board is actually working out nicely, since there's been some noise made over at the other computer desk about getting another 7900GT...which means that when I convince him to replace *that* card I can use it to play with SLI. Only thing is that the easy, peasy water block I'm eyeing for...
haha
I play video games too. :P Oblivion is running smoothly with almost all the settings turned to max-I get over 30fps while moving outdoors, with all the shadow options on. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with the performance of the parts I picked out. ;) I'm going to do a prime95...
Quick update: I had a leak in my Koolance system, think it must have actually happened ~2 weeks ago. Went to disassemble my old system to recover parts and there were blue crystals of dried coolant underneath the Exos2 unit (which I had sitting on top of my computer case), video card also got...
hungryduck: everything I could find about dual cores said you need be running pro. I bought an OEM version, so it's good to hear that if something goes wrong with the OEM I can try Home. Maybe my info was outdated... too late now :/
lol@cooter. I used to be the same way, I'm not really sure...
quadnad, you've been a huge help. That guide is absolutely perfect, just what I was looking for.
I ended up sticking with the Asus mb as the DFI one looks like too much mb for me. After seeing performance charts on the parts I picked out, my bf is making noise about his woman having a better...
I'm gonna bookmark that Corsair RAM :D I'm already over my allotted amt since I didn't account for having to buy WinXP Pro in order for both cores of the chip to function :( (I'm running XP Home right now).
I plan to let the system run at the factory specs for a bit to make sure it's...
Thanks for the handy newegg link too.
I'm keeping this RAM atm since it's too much $$ *right now* to invest in 2gigs of something like Corsair; and when I'd been reading articles about that chip it seemed to indicate it wasn't hugely picky about the RAM even when overclocking. I'll see how...
This is the first system I'm building and I'd like to overclock it. I have a Koolance exos2 for cooling the chip; vid card is BFG GeForce 7900 GT. I'm looking at getting the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe but was curious if there was another MB out there that would be better for overclocking the chip. I've...
