Just get a Ducky Shine 2 of your choice and get a cheap external hub... solved.
Shine is a very solid and premium keyboard and it doest not take unnecessary space.
Logitech g9x is an option. Similar shape to R.A.T3 with less buttons and it is a very solid mouse.

as pstang says, get a cheap am2 board see even if you get an am3 board you better upgrade to a later generation if you dont need more power in near future

g400 and g500 will be huge(in terms of size) after your mouse. So i say try them before buying, especially after you said you prefer a small mouse.
