i just found out that the Xtreme Music has 2MB of XRAM.
that is the only difference. I should have done more reading before my purchase.

Some times The Bios is set to change the timings based on speed.
your motherboard is setting them at the wrong speed. try manually setting the memory speeds. I had a MB once that alway defaulted to CAS3.
I have 4 sticks or Corsair Value ram in my computer.
I have been able to run that at 2-3-3-7 at upto 210mhz fsb
and run them stock 2.5-3-3-7 upto 220mhz. I don't think that is bad for cheap memory.
