    RAM prices are back to normal, last year all the memory manufacturers were losing money due to recession, so there isn't anything to complain about. Companies can't run on negative profit forever...

    Notebookcheck is highly unreliable since they don't control their benchmark sources. Their list is good as a starting point but the best sources would be notebookreview (NBR) forums, specifically the GPU/gaming section. And no, the HD 5870 Mobility is not based on the same core as the desktop...

    It's still PCIe 1.0 x1 or x2. Unless you don't want an entirely new system... I'd rather spend less and just had that capability (desktop GPU). Losses depend also on the card itself, obviously, if you're going up to a HD 5970, the losses will be much more than 60% on PCIe 1.0 x1 than PCIe...

    A few of the newer notebooks support PCIe 2x which is doubles the bandwidth. USB 3.0 isn't a good solution due to overhead (which goes through the CPU). Next year we should see ExpressCard 2.0 (5Gb/s) and hopefully more notebooks with PCIe 1.0 2x (or even PCIe 2.0 1x - same bandwidth of 500MB/s...

    For that price, it should have built-in dual NICs from Killer. Heck, even the eVGA dual CPU Classified RS-2 motherboard is $600 and has double the memory slots.
