Troubleshooting help with a Dell Latitude, D620

The integrated video is dead, which requires a motherboard replacement. 620's are notoriously prone to motherboard failure, I've probably replaced 20-30 of them myself. If it's still under warranty Dell will replace it, in some cases they'll dispatch a tech to replace it locally. If it's not, I...

    16x drive/media only burns at 4x?

I bought 2 identical ASUS DVD drives(which in retrospect was a bad idea) which are advertised as having a 22x burn speed on DVD+/-R. No matter what burning software I use the highest I've gotten is 8x, even with 16x discs and the software set to 16x. I can't figure out what the bottleneck is...

    New High End Laptop Needed

Those are some pretty impressive specs for the size and price. Nice warranty too. The hard drive would need an upgrade though. I also don't see where the OS is listed. Edit: Just noticed the customize button. With an OS, WUXGA, and better HD it's up to $2k. To me the gateway looks better...

Looking for input on my build list

I have a copy of 32 bit XP home I was going to use if I can't find a Pro. I've got 64 bit Vista home premium on my laptop which I'm happy with, but I have no desire to run Vista on a desktop. And I'm pretty sure the Black has 2 platters.

Looking for input on my build list

First of all, thanks for your input, it's been very helpful =) Oops, wrong link, I did mean Visiontek 4870. I was going to go with 2x 4850's, but a lot of benchmarks settings showed the 4870 doing as good or better for $90 less. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129113...

    New High End Laptop Needed

Agreed. I'm very pleased with my P-6860FX, they're a good series of machines from what I've seen so far.

Looking for input on my build list

I'm not on any budget, but my goal is to get the best price/performance ratio possible, be able to play any game with good settings and framerate, and have lots of storage space. Will be using existing monitor, OS, etc. Here's what I've got so far. Any input greatly appreciated =) Rosewill...

    Western Digital WD6401AALS

The capacity is almost the same for *3* 640gb drives. 640x3 = 1920GB -vs- 2000GB 85x3 = $255 -vs- 150x2 = $300 So $45 or 56 cents per gig for that extra 80. 2 Cents per gig adds up pretty fast.

    Western Digital WD6401AALS

Is the 640gb version better than the 1tb version of the Caviar Black HDs in terms of heat, noise, features and/or speed? The price per gig on the 640 is way better, I'm thinking about getting 3 of em for about the same capacity as 2 1TBs but 45$ cheaper.
