Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
It's all in what you prefer. Certainly a larger screen results in a better viewing experience, but movies viewed on the u3011 do suffer from a slight softening due to the upscaling of the source material. When the number of pixels on your display device matches your source material exactly...
FWIW, I am also very fussy about picture quality. I have an A00 panel and it has great uniformity. The blacks do gray out at the corners, but this is due to the contrast degrading in the diagonal viewing angle direction much faster than vertically or horizontally. The panel is just too huge...
Some data on the input lag:
Using the Online Monitor Test at http://tft.vanity.dk/, I've found evidence that having 1:1 pixel maping may substantially reduce input lag. I'm still trying to work out exactly what is going on, but here's what I've found so far:
My laptop display is about 15...
PC_User,
I would have liked the lower input lag of the ZR30w as well, but I chose the u3011 (bought it yesterday... Thanks Ultra_Wide!) because it is impossible to play a game with correct color on the ZR30w. Games will have completely blown-out/oversaturated colors using the full gamut of the...
I got my panel yesterday and I used the "Color Gradient" test on CheckEMon
( http://www.ykwong.com/checkemon.html ) to find that the optimum Brightness setting
for my FP241w is 28. At 28 I can fully see every grayscale color. Interestingly, at 50
I can't see the full grayscale spectrum...
LOL. Uh, no. OS X is light years ahead of Windows in this area.
The calibration software built into OS X is not too bad, but you do the calibration by eye, and that is nowhere near as accurate as if you buy a colorimeter. All colorimeters that I know of (like the Spyder or EyeOne Display)...
For the record, I sent email to BenQ on Dec. 26th asking about the 1:1 fix. They sent me email back on Jan 10th saying they can't help me via email and that I should call 866-600-2367. I would advise other people to just start there (call the number).
BrokenAnimator, thanks for posting those pics.
Would you mind posting pictures of the CheckeMON "Geometry" test?
You can get CheckeMON here:

Danger,
What you are describing sounds like "image tearing". While it *could* be a problem with the monitor, it is more likely to be a software issue. The fact that you don't see the problem on your analog monitor is curious, though. What is the playback software you are using on the video...
My Gateway went back to Best Buy today. I looked on the shelves, and the only other one they had in stock was also a return.
Officially, it was the banding, crushed blacks, flickering, and ghosting that did it in. I hadn't mentioned the ghosting in my original post, but I found that an...
Why not still use the icc profile to get the monitor the rest of the way to 6500K using the graphics card LUT? If the colors were "more appealing" on the Gateway, why go with the BenQ?
Wow! Very interesting find there! I get the same behavior, except the "User" mode adjustments will never...
JBall, thanks for the info on the BenQ, and keep us posted on your
progress.
On the 1:1 pixel mapping issue I was having, it turned out to be a glitch
with my DVHS VCR where you have to push a button twice for it to take
effect. 1:1 pixel mapping works fine in DVI mode with a HDMI...
Here are the ICC profiles I generated using my GretagMacbeth Eye-One Display colorimeter with their Eye-One Match software. I still felt that contrast of 35 was too bright for me, so I've now put mine down at 30, but if you prefer 35 I included a profile for that too. These are profiles for...
