Newegg.ca has it for $99.99 today with free shipping down from $159.99 regular price. Is it a good PSU? Should I get it for my i5-750 @ 4.0Ghz with a 5870 and probably 1 more in crossfire?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the replies, after chatting with my friend he was wondering whether it'll be worth it to wait for Hex-core processors and the GTX480 and get something like the 5850 in the meantime?
Hi, I thought I was on top of the world when I built my i5-750 and 5850 setup.
How very wrong was I.
A friend of mine, quite wealthy, recently got addicted to Crysis. He said it looked better than real life, and fortunately has asked me to build him "The bestest ultimate gaming computer...
Some reviews:

A quick summary for those of you too lazy to read everything:
- It is identical to the 5870 in physical design, meaning at 11 inches, you wont be able to fit...
Tessellation and advanced shadows from the DX11 screenshots look almost identical to the images from DX9.
The only thing that wowed me was the water effects of tessellation from DX11, otherwise DX11 is garbage due to only slightly improved image quality but large performance impact.
Specs:
Biostar T5 XE
i5-750 @ 3.6ghz
4 GB XM3 DDR3 1600
HIS 5850 @ stock
Seagate Baraccuda 750GB
Now, I bought a Cooler Master H212 plus, and the i5 runs at 24C idle and 36C load, I'm loving it. Best $30 I've ever spent.
I wish the same could be said for the Radeon, but it running...
For playing at 1080p, you should definitely get nothing less than a 5770. The 5670 or GTS250 will struggle at that resolution at any slightly eye-pleasing setting.
Rofl, how will the GTX285/275 "give me better gaming experience for the time being" when enabling 2x MSAA drops the average FPS to around 40 and min. FPS to around 20?
I don't know about the reviewers, but I'd take smooth 60 min. FPS gameplay with no AA from the 5870 over 20 min. FPS gameplay...
Thanks, I'm happy with even stock performance as stock CPU/Video card settings runs everything on max as of now, so in this case I'll drop back stock speeds for both components and hopefully my PSU will last.
In a year or two when I decided to crossfire, I'll get a better PSU so in the mean...
Thanks for all the replies.
Got my 5850 and installed it, and also borrowed a watt meter from a floor mate.
Here are the results:
CPU - i5 - 750
20 x 200mhz = 4.0ghz, 1.368V, could probably go even higher with my 212 + cooler, temps at 54C under load right now.
GPU - HIS Radeon 5850...
Hm thanks, I'll remember to stay away from OCz.
Now I guess, the better question is, what is the most powerful card that I run with my current PSU?
5770? 5750? 5830 when it comes out in a few days?
I've seen people run 4890 and 4870 with i5-750 on worse PSUs, so that's why I thought I could...
