    My motherboard is the EVGA NF41 nforce4 SLI (on their site it's listed as 133-K8-NF41) I switched both jumpers (JP1 and JP3), although since both my mouse and keyboard are plugged into the back USB ports I actually only needed to switch JP1.

    I had this exact same issue with my board. Changing those jumper settings (as per the manual) did the trick and stopped it from killing the power to my USB devices. JP1 controls the back USB ports I believe, while JP3 controls the optional ones (i.e. if you hooked up your case's front ports...
