24 Hour Store Has No Staff, Requires Only A Phone

The company I work for has something like this setup. Badge to get in, self-checkout registers, lots of cameras. It's staffed during the day, and self-serve at night. It's awesome since us second-shift workers usually get screwed on late-night options.

Seasonic Snow Silent 1050W Luck Draw!!!!!

A (color): 15% - Would love to make a black & white build B (silence): 5% - Nice, but not essential C (SeaSonic Awesomeness): 80% - Nothing else goes in my builds these days. When you're dropping a lot of money on a system, you don't want a crappy PS to kill it all.

Seasonic Snow Silent 750W PSU LUCKY DRAW!

I value Seasonic supplies because they are tremendously well built, and they work without fail.

PiKasa Will Turn Your Raspberry Pi into a Laptop

The $75 level is still available, and $25 to ship to the US. Maybe I'm a sucker, but that looks cool. In for 1.

    Build Your Own Storage Server

<rant> I read the [H] almost every day, but hardly ever post. With this, I had to. That pretty much sums up my opinion. I'm putting together a FreeNAS system with the 8-bay Silverstone DS380B and an AsRock C2550 Avoton mobo. Cost without drives? $850 - and that includes 32GB of ECC (for...

To FreeNAS or not to FreeNAS?

No hate from me. I hadn't considered it, mainly because of the laziness factor. The RN316 I mentioned is plug-n-play. FreeNAS is a DIY setup, but most of the dirty work is taken care of for you. Also, both of these systems are full solutions, i.e. they offer a platform that has existing...

To FreeNAS or not to FreeNAS?

I don't think it's snarky at all. There are a number of people who feel the same way, and I'm not 100% convinced myself that these are both mature enough. That being said, I'd appreciate an alternative that offers data integrity protection. I'd like to avoid this thread turning into a "BTRFS...

To FreeNAS or not to FreeNAS?

So, Long time member, not too many posts. Need opinions on which NAS option to use. This will be a home use NAS with 1 (maybe 2) users. High capacity is the goal, with reliability a concern. Performance is not a concern. I have narrowed my choices as follows: FreeNAS running ZFS on a...

AMD Radeon HD 7770 CrossFire Bundle Lucky Draw

It's been said a bunch already, but.... goota love the red/black color combo. Also, multi-monitor support. I know the performance crown goes back and forth, but ATI sucked me in before nvidia had their act together on multi-monitor, and I'm sticking with it! Also also... this would be a...

Mbps = Gbps? I need to complain to my cable company... :-D

    Seasonic X-560 Give-Away! 3 PSUs!

I look for reliability. After having lesser units fail, I try to stick to units that have been reviewd by reliable sources (mainly the [H]).

    Corsair HS1 Gaming Headset Give-Away - 5 Sets!!!

I need a good set of headphones. I have an old (but decent) Altec Lansing 2.1 speaker set, but my grandmother complains about the volume. No snarky comments please; I'm going to school, and while living with family sucks, it beats paying rent. I do a lot of flight sim gaming, so having a pair...

    Vid Card recommendation

I thought about upgrading my own card, but the 5850 is about the largest I can fit in my case, and I haven't had it that long. The 465 I was looking at is a EVGA superclocked version that is the same price as the cheapest 460 from a reputable mfr. Plus, it has EVGA's warranty.

    Vid Card recommendation

Any suggestions as to the difference between the 460 and 465? I know the 465 is clocked lower, but I found an EVGA superclocked that's almost as fast. Are the extra processors worth it?

    Vid Card recommendation

Thanks for the info guys. Danny, yours was the answer to my next question. Way to be a mind reader!! I was thinking of using a 1366 for longevity, but if there's not much difference, I'll save the dough and go with a 1156. She's probably not going to upgrade anyway. These suggestions may...
