Charter Promises Internet Service to Family, Then Says It’ll Cost $16,000

I work for a cable company and this is very likely the case. For us here, if your house is over 200ft from the street, you will need to have your own poles installed between the street and your house.

Interference buzzing noise with JBL LSR305 speakers

I don't think balanced cables would do you much good since your source isn't balanced. It would essentially be a TRRS --> 2x TS cable, but your mobo probably doesn't have a TRRS output. As far as those ground loop isolator things, maybe they might work? The external DAC suggestion works...

    Good office chairs

Just got the DXRacer. With a whopping 30mins of seat time, I'll say so far so good. The headrest pillow seems pretty much required and I doubt that will last as long as the chair. Luckily I have a stash of similar size/shaped pillows with similar elastic bands that I picked up for a dollar...

Interference buzzing noise with JBL LSR305 speakers

I've never had your specific issue (my mobo headphone outs were ok, but USB -> DAC connection causes similar issues for me), so I can't say if it's anything to worry about. Though, if everything else is solid...it's your call. With the FiiO (or any other DAC with optical inputs if you want...

Interference buzzing noise with JBL LSR305 speakers

Sounds like electrical noise issues from the pc. Easy fix would be to use the optical out to an external DAC. Cheapest option in aware of would be a FiiO D03K (~$25 USD) as mentioned earlier by jhatfie and I. Of course this doesn't really address the root cause of the issue, but it should...

Interference buzzing noise with JBL LSR305 speakers

Does the buzzing still happen when you unplug from computer? If not, does it buzz if you hook it up to your phone (or other portable device)? If there is no buzzing in both of the above situations, then an optical DAC might solve your issues. Might want to try something cheap like a FiiO D03K...

Need a new desk - DIY or buy one?

Remember that if you cut down a hollow door....it's hollow. You will need to find some way to fill/reinforce the edge that was cut.

    TOSLINK vs USB for DAC

He doesn't NEED to use USB and if he doesn't use USB, he doesn't need drivers. Toslink doesn't need drivers. I would know, I actually use optical connections to my dacs (gustard x20, modi 2 uber, smsl m8). And yes maybe I do have power issues (household, not computer/device) but that doesn't...

    TOSLINK vs USB for DAC

USB noise might not be an issue for you, but it is for me and many others. As mentioned, optical takes care of that. No drivers needed.

    Good office chairs

I've used/owned a few high end chairs so here's a few notes on them. Disclaimer: I have terrible posture and don't sit properly/as intended in any chair haha. I spend more time at the computer watching anime than I do playing games or doing work these days. I am about the same height and...

Wireless In-Ear Headphones (Powerbeats2 / Jaybirds / etc. for Gym and such)

I picked up a pair of Sony SBH80's for use at work based on good reviews and I've been satisfied with them. I usually use custom IEMs (64 Audio V6-Stage or CustomArt Ei.XX) with my portables, but the SBH80's are good enough that I don't feel I'm missing much. One thing of note was that I...

Need a new desk - DIY or buy one?

If you'd like to see that desk in person, Office Depot sells them under the name "Realspace Dawson". I've used a variant of that desk for several years before building my own desk. Its a cheap desk that's made of cheap materials, but that goes for most desks these days...

    Post Your Workstations 2015

I've been using the same setup for several years and I finally got around to revamping it, pretty much all of it. New comps (x2), new displays (x3), new desk. Built the desk myself since I couldn't find anything I liked. New desk is 3ft longer and 1ft deeper than my old desk (8'x3'), it's so...

    Try this audio test

Actually, most of my music collection is lossless, but it's also not in english so maybe that made the difference. I don't feel the lesson here is that I need to "learn" to appreciate lossless, but rather that I shouldn't be so concerned about it.
