one other consideration I just thought of... since these both have composite & component inputs, this could double as a 2nd screen for console gaming, when we are watching something on our 65" tv... has anyone ever gooten old school consoles to work successfully on either one? Like NES/SNES?

I am hoping to buy a new monitor today to replace my dual vx 922's, one of which went bad due to exploded capacitors. I am really wanting the dell 3008wfp, which can be had from dell SB for $1349.10 including 5yr advance exchange... but then i see I can get 2709w from dell SB for $682.20...

viewsonic monitors are plagued with bad capacitors... if you are an expert with a sodering gun and a screwdriver, you can usually repair it yourself with some help with the folks at badcaps forums. Also parts can be bought at the viewsonic store, if you figure out which board(s) inside has...
