    8800gt gone faulty?

I've had the card in posession for about a month, but considering almost all of that has been troubleshooting and waiting for the faulty parts to be replaced, I would consider it "new" as far as time actually used. I haven't been monitoring the temperature with a program, but if crashes occur...

    8800gt gone faulty?

Already did, actually. (unless you meant the memory on the card itself) I've already replaced 2 faulty motherboards and a pair of RAM modules on this order. It's true that neither machine has ever passed memtest, though.

    8800gt gone faulty?

I have two identical setups and I'm 95% sure one video card is bad. System specs: EVGA 8800GT 512MB 2GB OCZ Reaper 800mhz DDR2 1GB Patriot 800mhz DDR2 GIGABYTE GA-M57SLI-S4 AM2 AMD Athlon X2... something or other Anyway, whenever I load a directx application (aka a game), and...

    dead psu or dead mobo?

Good thought, but nope, the jumper is correctly set. RMA request sent to the vendor, just waiting for instructions now. If it's dead, they'll gimmie another one, if it's not somehow, I should at least get it back and can take another look at it. Thanks for all the help.

    dead psu or dead mobo?

Sorry for the double-post, but we just got done trying the system with another psu. We used a confirmed working psu from another system, and we still only get one blink on its LED, no powering up, no fans, no lights, no nothing. I'll check for a short or something when we disassemble this...

    system lockup troubleshooting

No, neither model of memory is on the official supported list. I'd test the memory on another PC - in fact, an identical one, as I'm building two identical machines for two brothers. However, THAT pc either has a DOA psu or a DOA mobo. This is the first time I've ever had any problems with...

    system lockup troubleshooting

When any memory is in the defective slot, the system will not boot at all, only long beeps from the PC speaker. When the defective module is alone in any slot, the same happens - no boot, long beeps. So far it has not mattered what combination of any kind of RAM we have inserted, Memtest...

    dead psu or dead mobo?

I do have an older psu that I just replaced a few weeks ago. However, in my struggles to get all the contacts out, I was dumb and pulled on the wires of a 4-pin connection instead of the plastic - yanked the wires right out of the connector. Right now the wires are exposed beyond the sheathing...

Quick Question: Can this power supply support MSI G92 Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS 512MB?

If you can, skip the 8800GTS and get an 8800GT. Look at some comparisons between the two - the GT is cheaper and completely outperforms the GTS. That power supply should be just fine for either, I'd think.

    dead psu or dead mobo?

Just hooked up a newly assembled pc and was powering it on to get the formatting and installation of windows started. However, when I hit the power button on the case, all I get is one blink of the LED on the back of the psu. No fans start, no boot, just one blink. It does not matter if the...

AM2 cpu rocks in its socket

Exactly what I needed. :) I think that's all I needed. Thank you for the help!

AM2 cpu rocks in its socket

Wow, thanks for the fast reply. Looks like there was one slightly bent pin. I think I got it straightened out since I can no longer see it at a glance. When I insert the cpu now there is very slight rocking, but it is much much flatter. Does this sound safe to use or should it be 100% flat...

AM2 cpu rocks in its socket

OK, this seems to be a pretty serious issue. I have an AMD Athlon X2 5200+ for a GIGABYTE GA-M57SLI-S4. Building two identical computers here, the first one was just fine as far as its cpu and socket went. When I tried installing the cpu into this board, however, the chip did not lie flat. It...

    system lockup troubleshooting

Thanks. Now this is the first time I've had bad memory show up, so I just want to run my troubleshooting process by you to make sure I got fair results. We tried booting each module of RAM alone, and discovered that one caused the computer to not boot - long beeps came from the PC speaker...
