Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
When trying to install Vista as a clean install I boot from the disk, see a 'copying files' window, followed by the vista progress bar. Then the install wallpaper appears and nothing else loads. The cd is accessed repeatedly and a mouse pointer is present, but no install options.
I have tried...
It's crucial ballistix. Seems pretty good so far, doesn't get warm with a zalman 7700 above at mid speed at 2.2v.
update - i had some problems at 4,4,4,15 at anything over 1000, had to drop it to 5,5,5,18 for stability after further testing. still great for pc5300 ram I think.
I have crucial ballistix 2x1gb, DDR2-667. I'm pretty sure they are D9s. The board is a GB-P965-DS3.
I've got them to work at ddr2-1000 at 4,4,4,15 at 2.2v memtest+ stable. Also, 3,3,3,12 at ddr2-900, again 2.2v memtest+ stable.
Haven't tried any higher (yet).
I've got an e4300 clocked at 3ghz at the moment, the memory, ddr2-667 is running at 3,3,3,12 at 880mhz. I've had the ram at over 1000mhz with relaxed 4,4,4,15 timings
Do I want to always aim for the highest speed I can get? Or is it better to have tighter timings sometimes?
Should I relax...
you could use a mixture of dry ice (solid CO2) and acetone to reach -78oC easily, and it won't evaporate nearly as quickly as liquid nitrogen. just don't spill it :)
ps - the comments about liq n2 it freezing anything in the room are wrong, you can dip the tips of your fingers in liq N2 as...
Please recommend a good cooler for overclocking the e4300 on air. Something quiet too, with a 120mm fan preferably. Space isn't really an issue, it's an Antec P180 case with a Gigabyte DS3. There are two 120mm exhaust fans very close to the cpu, and 1 120mm intake fan.
Thanks!
