    Venice Overclocking problems

I was having the exact problem, except it would happen in different games. I had the same mobo as you, and a 6800 at the time. Not sure if this info helps at all, but it seems like it has something to do with the nvidia drivers combined with that motherboard.

    Constant memory problems

hmm... yeah looks like it might be the mobo then. Too bad DFI's site is down. I'd like to check out their forums to see if there's a known solution and get the firmware updates.

    Constant memory problems

So I just built my new system and when I first got it, it worked fine for a couple of days. Then I started getting a blue screen with a different memory related error each time. I ran a memtest, and found that one of my memory sticks was defective. I tested to make sure it was the stick, not the...

Does 1mb of cache make windows "smoother"?

Very nice! See, when I picked a processor I knew nothing about AMD. I've had Intel systems up until now, and decided to try something different and stop my !!!!!!sm (fangirlism?) I'm actually getting a DFI board as well  I'm very excited to try out the new system. The Opteron...

Does 1mb of cache make windows "smoother"?

I wanted a socket 939 board... Plus I wanted a system balanced out for gaming and image editting so I decided to get the 3700+. I think I made the right decision, but either way it'll definitely be a lot better than what I had before.

Does 1mb of cache make windows "smoother"?

I just ordered the 3700+ San Diego, and picked it specifically because it has the extra L2 cache. I will be doing some really intense image editting in photoshop, and I figure that since it uses up a ton of memory, having the extra cache will help. Unless I'm totally wrong about this, in which...

    Building my first AMD system

Agreed. The reason I'd be upgrading to San Diego is just for the extra cache. If I were to OC wouldnt i just do that just as easily with a Venice?

    Building my first AMD system

Oops, I meant 2x512... Don't know why I wrote 256 :p It's 3200 DDR RAM. Corsair. The video card I haven't decided on yet. I'm not getting it until next month. I don't plan on overclocking most likely.

    Building my first AMD system

So, I haven't built a new system since my last one which has lasted me for four years, and have always had Intel systems. This is my first shot at building an AMD system and I would like some opinions. I'm working on a $550 budget for the motherboard, processor, case and memory. What I'm trying...
