Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Hi Hearts - Using the Shuriken, I did not have any problems with clearance of the RAM. However, it is offset a bit to the right so it overhangs the PCIe slot. I forgot to mention that I had actually replaced all the stock fans in the system with some old school low speed Yate Loons. They run...
As far as the case, it was a no brainer since it offered the capacity of 6+1 HDD and a 5.25" bay to boot. I had read up on the PC-Q08 noise "issues" on SPCR (http://www.silentpcreview.com/lianli-pcq08) so decided to modify it myself.
The top and bottom drive bays were gasketed with some foam...
Here's the Asus mobo again. Reasons I chose this over the Z77 and the others are because it is the only present one with 6 SATA connectors in ITX form that i know of. While I can easily add a PCIe SATA controller, I wanted to keep costs down and things simple and have the ability to have PCIe...
@ Sorce - noted and while i have SSDs laying around, OS access is rare and infrequent to really warrant it's usage IMHO. This is by no means a gaming system and will be up 24/7 for at least a few years (as my last system was) with minimal reboots.
Finally, after months of waiting and scouring the world (literally, I was in even in Taipei looking for it) for the elusive Asus P8H67-I motherboard, Asus started shipping the P8H77-I replacement and I got it immediately once available in the US. I chose this motherboard because i needed the 6...
Hi Guys - as someone who's been constantly upgrading and fiddling with PCs since the days of the 8086 (oh, the memories), it was time to get up to date after a 3 year absence in the scene. Since my whole build is centered around the Q08, thought I'd post it here. The computer is primarily served...
FWIW - I have 5 of the Seagate 1.5TB now and they work great without any of the freeze folks are experiencing. My take is that certain raid controllers / configurations are having these issues. the mainstream RAID controllers, especially on board mobo ones seem to work fine (i've used it with...
Miguel, from the sounds of your requirements, the nVidia 9300 boards are up your alley, since they have everything you want, except for one thing: 400MHz FSB overclock. The best you will be able to do so far is around 375MHz or run a 333Mhz 5:6 FSB/Mem divider. The RAID on the 9300 is a step...
This Asus G45 board has these advantages over its little G35 brother:
- Full BD 1080p video decoding (VC1, MPEG2, H.264/AVC)
- Can undervolt to .85V (Asus G35 can only go to 1.1V)
- Minimal VDROOP (10-100mV)
Also 1506 BIOS improved BD playback further to help some of the stuttering...
It's the best, if you don't mind no frills, default everything with some crappy BIOS/Driver support, but it does have the best BD playback audio/video wise. When/If they fix these issues, it will be the best bar none.
FYI - I've owned the F-i90HD, EVGA 630i, Asus P5K-Vm, P5E-VM, P5Q-EM, and now the Asus P5N7A-VM...
If you want an OC board, stick with intel X/G chipsets like the P5E-VM or P5Q-EM...much more overclock friendly with great BIOS support and solidity
If you want a good IGP, 9300 is the way to...
