The Evolv styling does nothing for me, but the overall design, especially the interior, is awesome. Not tempting enough, however, to replace my two Primos.
Ever since the GTX 980 came out, I've been waiting patiently for a GTX 980Ti. Unless a number of reviews report the Asus GTX 980Ti Direct CU III is garbage, I take the plunge to replace my GTX 780Ti DCII that has served me well, and will continue to do so in my second rig.
I have two Enthoo Primos, white and black. Lots of room, build quality is, IMO, excellent, and many options for cooling. I have had no cooling/airflow problems, though I use only one GPU in each rig. I removed all drive cages, mounting my SSDs behind the mobo and the HDD is mounted in an unused...
I've religiously used Asus mobos since 1996. Friends, plus forum comments, tend to support Gman1979. Were I in the market for a new mobo, I'd seriously look at some of the higher-end boards from MSI and, perhaps, ASrock.
I have no proof, but I'm 99.999999% sure the GTX 970 is a design in and of itself, not a crippled 980. Both cards have been out long enough that the myriad reviews would have boldly mentioned crippling were it true.
I have a 980 and intend to buy a 970 for my second rig. I have no worry or...
I'm definitely upgrading to the 5960X chip. I really want the octo-core, even at 3.0 Ghz. Overclocking potential should be interesting. The only question unanswered is which mobo. At the moment I'm leaning toward the Asus X99 Deluxe, but that is subject to change. I'm looking forward to reading...
I have bought only WD since the mid-90s and have never had any issues. Corfrection: I think I bought a Seagate about 13 years ago and had nothing but trouble. That's ancient history and isn't valid for today, but it made me a died-in-the-wool WD user. My single HDD is a WD 1TB Black 7200 RPM I...
I'm using three Samsung 840 Pros. I've never seriously considered another brand to avoid chasing my tail for no good reason. The new 850 Pro has caught my attention, but it's not on my radar unless one of my existing SSDs bite the dust (which I seriously doubt). I looking forward to the "next...
I'm very happy with my delidded 4770k and Asus Z87 Hero. However, I couldn't resist buying a new Phanteks Enthoo Primo White when it came out, even though I have the black case. As a result, I'm planning on building a second rig starring the 4790K CPU and Asus Z97 Pro mobo. I'm an airhead so I'm...
Good ideas, all. But there are many situations where certain minerals are essential with extremely limited availability and no (acceptable) alternatives. We're then caught betwixt the proverbial rock and hard place.
Pure marketing. Z97 is needed for DC and Broadwell. I can't see buying a Z97 for a 4770K, but for the upcoming Broadwell it will be necessary. I'm not upgrading, but I am building a second rig so I'll go with an Asus Z97 Pro WHEN the refreshed Haswells come out next month and, most likely...
The performance is outstanding. On my rig, temps are 3-5 degrees cooler than my previous Noctua D14. But what really sold me was the choice of colors (I chose blue) and that led to blue and white sleeved cables. Yeah, I got a bit carried away but what fun!
