Yep found out last night when I put the Core Solo T1350 in place of the Celeron M 420. Worked perfect!
Not bad for a 120 bucks. Went from a Celeron M 420 @ 1.6GHz to a Core Solo @ 1.86GHz doubling the cache from 1mb to 2mb in the process.
It doesn't sound like a bad idea.
I wouldn't do it. Simply because I would sell off what I've got and combine it with the 400 and buy a new laptop, but you should learn a lot in the process.
I would make damn sure that old LCD is compatible with the newer components before
Same chassis...
Well we will soon know. I'm expecting the Core Solo from nicepun to arrive today (hopefully). Based on what I know and after talking to Gateway.. I can find no reason why I shouldn't be able to slip the back panel off pull the Celeron M 420 and slip the Core Solo in.
I'll update this posting...
I have this same laptop and have been curious as well, so I'm just going to add to your post instead of starting a new thread.
The CPU currently in it is the Celeron M 420 (Yonah) @ 1.6GHz, which from my understanding is the Celeron little brother of the Core Solo.
CPU-Z reports as it...
